EWG stands for the Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit organization that has evaluated ingredients used in personal care products for years. You may have seen their Skin Deep database, which rates products and ingredients on a scale from 1 to 10.
EWG VERIFIED is different, and the standard is much more rigorous. A product receiving a favorable rating is not the same as a product earning the EWG VERIFIED mark. Verification is a process a company must apply for, demonstrating that its product meets EWG's specific standards.

Keep it simple.
Arrive with clean skin and no skincare, makeup, or other products on the area being treated. After your session, avoid touching or picking at the treated skin.
Keep the area clean with witch hazel applied gently with a clean cotton pad, and use a cool compress if the skin feels warm or uncomfortable.
For the rest of the day, give your skin a break. Avoid makeup, fragrance, active skincare, excessive sweating, and direct sun exposure.
Let your skin recover.
Your skin is beginning its natural recovery process. Continue keeping the treated area clean with witch hazel and avoid applying unnecessary products to freshly treated skin.
If you experience temporary redness or irritation, a cool compress can help soothe the area. A thin layer of aloe vera gel may also be used if needed.
Avoid exfoliating products, acids, retinoids, serums, facial oils, masks, and fragranced products during this initial recovery period.
Once the skin is calm and intact, begin adding back your basics.
If the treated area is no longer irritated, tender, or visibly compromised, you can begin using your Norwex Facial Cleansing Powder and Hydrating Moisturizer, or another gentle, fragrance free cleanser and a lightweight, non comedogenic moisturizer that you love.
Introduce products gently rather than applying everything at once. Your skin will tell you when it's ready.
Continue protecting the area from direct sun while it recovers.
Not every skincare product needs to come back at once.
Once the treated skin has fully settled, you can gradually return to your regular skincare routine.
This is the time to consider reintroducing products such as the Brightening Vitamin C Serum and DETOX + RESTORE Hydrating Night Cream, provided the skin is calm and tolerating your basic routine comfortably.
If your skin is still red, irritated, tender, or healing, wait. There is no benefit to rushing the process.
Save your stronger actives for fully recovered skin.
Products containing exfoliating acids or more concentrated active ingredients should wait until the treated area has completely settled.
This includes the Rejuvenating Serum, which contains glycolic and lactic acids, as well as the Smoothing Bakuchiol Serum.
The Illuminating Oil and Deep Hydration BioCellulose Mask are also better reserved for when the skin has fully recovered, particularly because their formulations contain fragrant botanical and essential oil ingredients.
When in doubt, give your skin more time rather than less.
Wear sunscreen daily. Stay well hydrated. And leave the tweezers alone.
Once your skin has recovered, return to your skincare routine and keep it consistent between appointments.
Shaving or carefully trimming is the recommended method between appointments. Avoid tweezing, threading and waxing, because these methods of temporary hair removal will undo the work that has been done and may stimulate more hair growth.
These timelines are a guide, not a race.
Everyone's skin responds differently to electrolysis. Treatment intensity, the size of the area treated, your skin's sensitivity, and how quickly you recover can all affect when you're ready to resume particular products.
If your skin is still showing signs of irritation or healing, wait until it has settled before adding products back in.
And if you're unsure whether something belongs in your routine after a treatment, ask Melanie before applying it.
And while we love the products we carry, you do not have to use them to have great results. If you already have a gentle, fragrance free cleanser and a lightweight, non comedogenic moisturizer that your skin loves, keep using them.
There are three things that matter most: daily sunscreen, plenty of water, and leaving the tweezers alone between sessions.
